Springtime Chive And Goat Cheese Frittata

This springtime chive and goat cheese frittata is a seasonal favorite of mine that I am excited to be sharing today.

One of my favorite ways to stay inspired in the kitchen year round is to focus on the seasonal ingredients I can get my hands on. Living in New England, we have a pretty long down season for fresh local produce, when it’s simply too cold to grow much.

However, once March arrives the local farms will begin to start some early Spring greens and veggies that are perfect for brightening up dreary days. Some of my favorites are micro greens, chives, pea shoots, radishes, and of course local cheese which we luckily have year round.

What Is A Goat Cheese Frittata?

A frittata can take many forms, which is why I love them so much for easy meals. This goat cheese frittata is filled with local goat cheese, pastured eggs, and local greens all mixed together and then poured into a cast iron or stainless steel frying pan for baking.

I personally love the springtime flavor combinations in this frittata that combines that perfect balance of bitter greens and creamy fresh goat cheese.

Tips For The Making The Best Chive And Goat Cheese Frittata

When it comes to making this frittata there are just a few things to keep in mind to make sure that it comes out as good as possible!

Choose Seasonal and Local Ingredients

While you can make so many different types of frittatas with whatever you have leftover in your fridge, or is available at the local grocery store, this frittata really shines when you opt for seasonal, local ingredients. So if you can, try to look for ingredients that have been grown locally. The taste really just can’t be beat!

Don’t Over Bake

Depending on the size of the pan you bake this frittata in and your specific oven you are going to want to watch it to make sure that it doesn’t over bake. In my experience most frittatas will be done cooking around 20-25 minutes, or when the center of your frittata looks fully baked and the edges are slightly crispy.

Don’t Skip The Fresh Toppings

I LOVE adding fresh seasonal toppings to this frittata as it really adds a unique twist to your classic baked frittata. So once your frittata has come out of the oven sprinkle some more goat cheese, and add some fresh sprouts and finely chopped radish.
